Monday aftermath update

August 31, 2009

Hello!  Thanks for a pleasant class Saturday.

In following up, here are the things I’ve done:

  • Updated the agenda to reflect what we actually accomplished.
  • Added a Follow-up section to the agenda that explains what I’ve done with the topic we didn’t get to.
  • Updated the Planner (mostly); there’s plenty there for you to do!
  • In updating the Planner, I discovered (to my dismay) that two audiofiles didn’t make the transition from WebCT to eLC – the two Gordon files.  I am working on this problem.  (You have plenty to do otherwise!)
  • Responding to some nervousness about how close the RQ assignment is due after our next class, I went ahead and linked in the supporting material to the Planner. It’s on the Assignment row, in the Supplemental column.  I think you’ll be fine if you don’t get this far.  Definitely, do everything else first.
  • Updated the Jobs list.

You can find everything mentioned here linked to the Agenda page, and/or the Planner page.  I’ll let you know when I finish the Gordon task.

Have a great week and I know you’re looking forward to Labor Day!

Welcome to Fall Semester 2009

August 25, 2009

Hello!  I’m busily preparing for Saturday.  We seem to be getting a late start; we can blame that on the semester beginning on a Monday.  Unlike the usual midweek start, this kind of schedule does strange things to Saturday classes.  No matter – I’m sure you’ve had plenty to do with other things.

With this post, the focus of this blog changes.  It will have 3 purposes for Fall 2009:

  • EDIT 6900 class blog, primarily
  • Internship news – for all SLM interns active at any point during the 2009-2010 school year (most of Cohort 8 will do this)
  • Other general Cohort 8 news

So, I apologize in advance to Ed.S. students – there will be much traffic here that pertains only to EDIT 6900.  You will have your own blog for class.  Unfortunately, you will need to watch this one, too.  (I will communicate with EDIT 7340 separately by tomorrow afternoon.)

I will see EDIT 6900 on Saturday, Aug. 29, 9a-12noon, UGA/Gwinnett.  I had originally said 9a-1p, but that has changed.  You’re welcome to stay for lunch; the rest of the cohort will be arriving for afternoon class.  You might also plan to use the early afternoon for group work.

ELC is not ready as of this minute, but you should be able to find it on your course menu.

Most course materials are ready. Explore the 6900 website to find:

  • syllabus
  • almost all the assignments
  • jobs to sign up for
  • first day’s agenda
  • and more.

As before, my detailed contact info can be found on the ELC Course homepage, at the bottom.

Bring your nametag and possibly a sack lunch. I look forward to seeing you Saturday – Room 121. (It has sockets on each table!)
