Today I blogged about techno-stress and the Exhibits over at the Cohort 7 blog, and I really had all of my classes in mind as I wrote it. Check it out.

Exhibits and Techno-Stress
August 28, 2008Monday update after Class 1
August 25, 2008I enjoyed class Saturday and I think we are off to a great start!
In keeping with my philosophy of short blog posts, here are 4 announcements that come as aftermath of class. They are all logistical in nature:
- Dr. Hill requested that I check in with you about Cohort 7 mentors. I did hear several people mention their person on Saturday, and no complaints. If you are not able to communicate with your mentor or for some reason haven’t been assigned one, let her know (janette at uga.edu).
- Jim has created a wiki for us. It includes the seating chart he made in class. Check it out here.
- As best I can tell, I’m missing group info from two groups – pairs. So, if you haven’t sent me your email saying “this is our group,” please do so I can get this last bit sorted out.
- As you look through course materials, like the seating chart and your name in WebCT – let me know if it’s not right. I would like your WebCT name to match your “go-by” name – and it’s confusing when we have multiple names to sort out. Just let me know.
This is definitely enough for one post – there will be more of these as we go along.
Food for Saturday
August 21, 2008Now, this is an important topic!
We will consider more elaborate food plans when we meet Saturday. But for this first meeting, the best plan is for everyone to bring a brown bag lunch.
Please don’t depend upon the ability to leave campus. While there is fast food nearby in case of emergency, I’ve learned over the years that we have to guard our class time. The most efficient plan is to stay on campus.
There are no weekend custodians, so we have to take all of our food-related trash with us when we leave. The Cleanup Crew will be in charge of this task.
Drink and snack machines are available. There’s also a bookstore which we need to check out for snack possibilities. I have no objection to eating during class.
Room 113 – at the end of the hall. See you there!
Welcome to Cohort 8!
August 18, 2008Hello! Once again, welcome to UGA and Cohort 8.
Saturday (Aug 23) is the first meeting of EDIT 6300 and here are a few critical notes:
- If you haven’t purchased texts yet, they should be available online or at the Bookstore at the Gwinnett Center. It will be open on Saturday, I’m told.
- You may visit the class website here. The syllabus, agenda, calendar, assignments, and lots more are there.
- Look for EDIT 6300 in your WebCT menu – let me know if you can’t see it.
- We meet at 9a in Room 113.
- Laptops are not required, but feel free to bring if you like. Wireless is available.
- Bring and wear a nametag!
I’m sure I’ll think of more announcements – but if not, I look forward to seeing you there!
